Placing the "shiny" side of HTV face down when cutting a design is not always accurate. That's right! Some products like Siser EasyPuff will have a frosted carrier sheet, meaning the "shiny" side will actually need to face upwards. You will want to make sure your carrier sheet is face down when cutting out your design.

Welcome to this week's digital minute. Let's talk about thin lines. As a part of our Quality Inspection, we look at each image to make sure there will be enough adhesive to allow your DTF Transfer or UV DTF Decal to stick to your blank.

If your text or other elements are too thin, we ask one of our Digital Specialists to add a .5px to 1px stroke.  This ensures it is thick enough to accept the white base applied as a part of the DTF and UV DTF printing process, which in turn ensures there is enough adhesive for your transfer or decal to stick to your blank.

The worst offenders are small, scrolly, or thin fonts, clothing labels, snowflakes, and antenna of any kind. LOL!  When buying or creating your design, consider the size of your text and other elements. Below is a graphic that will help!

My name is Beverly, and I am the Customer Service manager at 143Vinyl. I have been crafting for many years, and have been working at 143Vinyl for almost 6 years. I love helping with any crafting questions, and if I don’t know the answer, I will try my best to find an answer for you.

This week's question is: I am new to crafting and just received my order. How can I tell the difference in the types of vinyl?

Bev says: Welcome to the crafting world! Most adhesive vinyl comes with a paper backing and no carrier sheet. You can peel back a corner, and the vinyl layer will have a sticky backing. You will cut this vinyl side up, and you do need transfer tape to transfer your image once it is cut out. HTV (heat transfer vinyl) or Iron-On has a carrier sheet and the back side is usually a little duller in color. If you peel back a corner, the carrier sheet will be sticky. You cut this carrier side down, and mirror the image to cut out. There is no need for a transfer tape, the clear carrier sheet will do that for you.

We are so excited for this week's Small Business Spotlight:

Creative Touch by Winy

Hello, My name is Winy Taveras. I’m the owner of a small business called Creative Touch. I started this small business back in 2021. I specialize in personalized products such as coffee mugs, shadow box frames with paper flowers, eternal roses, party favors and much more. I started this business because in the pandemic I took a class about paper flowers and party flavor boxes and I felt in love with it.  One thing I love about my business is when I create an item for a customer and they love how their item turned out. My biggest goal for this year is to grow my business and keep forming part of people’s special moments. - Winy
